Water is essential for nearly every system in the body
Dry mouth, darker urine, fatigue, headaches, dizziness, muscle cramps, reduced urination, and changes in alertness can all occur when the body loses more fluid than it replaces.
At the same time, these symptoms are not specific to dehydration. Many can have other causes, so persistent, severe, or unusual symptoms should not automatically be blamed on a lack of water.
The best approach is simple: drink fluids regularly, increase your intake when you are losing more through sweating or illness, and pay attention to your body’s warning signs.
Staying adequately hydrated is not about forcing yourself to drink excessive amounts of water. It is about giving your body enough fluid to support its normal functions while recognizing when fluid loss may require more serious attention.
